In the midst of shaking off a midseason rut, the Detroit Pistons have dangled their defensive ace, Avery Bradley in trade talks leading up to the February 8 trade deadline.

Bradley still has $8.8 million owed to him for this 2017-18 season, but he is bound to command a whopping $20 million per year as a free agent this summer - a figure the Pistons are not intent in paying up.

Bradley is averaging 15 points per game and is shooting just 40.9 percent from the floor, down from 16.3 points and 46.3 percent a year ago with Boston. Bradley makes $8.8 million in the final season of his contract. However, he could still be a very valuable asset to a team that has a chance to make a deep playoff run.

Bradley, 27, has been bothered by a groin injury, which caused him to miss seven straight games earlier in the season.

The Pistons weren't interested previously, but it's unclear if those talks could be revisited.

Bradley is considered one of the NBA's best two-way shooting guards. He could be the ideal fit for a team like the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are struggling to stop any opposing offense. Derrick Rose, J.R. Smith and Isaiah Thomas have all been major disappointments when they've been healthy enough to play.

What would it take for the Cavs to acquire Bradley?

Such a deal could exist, as we have discussed in a recent post.

While a Pistons team official would not confirm the ESPN report to The Detroit News, Pistons coach and president Stan Van Gundy in the past has said that general manager Jeff Bower is always open to trade discussions for any player.
