Chinese smartphone maker OPPO on Wednesday launched its Oppo A83 smartphone that claims to deliver a natural selfie experience through "A.I". The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6763T processor which is clocked at 2.5GHz. The chipset is teamed up with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

According to company's official Twitter handle, the new Oppo A83 smartphone is soon launching in India. The dual-SIM smartphone runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box with ColorOS 3.2 on top. Its screen is surrounded by relatively minimal bezels that don't leave enough room for a physical Home button which could double as a fingerprint reader and the OPPO A83 doesn't have such a sensor on its back, either. OPPO is expected to continue placing a large focus on India going forward as the world's second largest contemporary handset market keeps growing at a rapid pace due to a combination of first-time smartphone owners and consumers who still aren't exhibiting any signs of upgrade fatigue.

The phone comes with a price tag of Rs 13,990 and would be available for purchase from January 20, 2018, onwards. It is company's own Skin based on Android operating system. The rear camera is a 13MP shooter with LED flash. The phone also has a Face Unlocking feature and no regular fingerprint scanner. You can get ideal selfies and can make HD video calls through the front facing camera of the device. Through its proprietary technology, the camera is touted to capture more than 200 facial points to refine features and compose the face contour with precision. The best features of this phone are the 18:9 aspect ratio full HD screen and the face unlock feature, with the company claiming that face recognition could be as fast as 0.18s only. You can setup your face to unlock the device from the Settings menu of the device.

Since the Oppo A83 is priced at just Rs. 13,990, it will have to compete against phones like Xiaomi Mi A1, Moto G5S Plus, Honor 7X, among others.

All the other specifications of the smartphone include the 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, micro USB, and A-GPS.
