LeBron James became the youngest player in National Basketball Association history to reach 30,000 career points when he scored 28 in the Cleveland Cavaliers game against the Spurs in San Antonio.

To commemorate the moment, James congratulated himself with an Instagram post.

Now playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Matthew Dellavedova played for three seasons in Cleveland, including two alongside LeBron James, so he surely has a solid bond with the four-time MVP, and not just someone whom James had met one July night in a bar and had a short chitchat with. He took a lot of (warranted) flak for the way he chose to "take my talents to South Beach", leaving the hometown Cleveland Cavaliers to chase championships in with the Miami Heat. "For me, if you know my career, I try to dominate in all facets - rebounding, assisting, defending, getting some blocked shots, chasing down and I'm going to sprinkle in some scoring as well".

Kobe Bryant was the closest to the record; he was 34 when he reached that point in his career.

LeBron James knows the Cavaliers have a proven vaccine that could cure them of this midseason malaise: a larger dose of him.

LeBron has averaged at least 25 points a game every season in his career, outside of his rookie season when - at 18 years old - he averaged 20.9 points. "But to make guys better and still score 30,000 points, that's a great achievement".

"I gotta be much better", he said.

LaMarcus Aldridge led San Antonio with 30 points, and James finished with 28 for Cleveland. "As far as stats go in my career, I've never thought about catching anybody".

Everything with the Cavaliers starts and ends with the 33-year-old James. I have to pick it up for other guys and I haven't been able to do that as of late.

"Well, if he stays healthy and he plays as long as he wants to play, No. 1 or No. 2", Wade told ESPN.
