Prone by injuries, Nehra continued to play for the nation for over 19 years. He played his last Test in 2004, last ODI in 2011. He then returned home to South Africa and made them No. 1 in the longest format in 2012. After his retirement, he continued to entertain his fans through commentary during the India-Sri Lanka series.
Now, Nehra is all set to enter IPL as a coach and mentor of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Nehra has turned out for a number of IPL teams as a player in the past - Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Pune Warriors India and Sunrisers Hyderabad - but not Bangalore. Joining Kirsten in the coaching roster is the recently-retired Ashish Nehra, who was also a part of the Indian team coached by Kirsten.
Kirsten will act as a mentor cum batting coach for RCB.
This will be Kirsten's second stint in the IPL after his three-year contract was cut short to a year by Delhi Daredevils in 2015. At the moment, Kirsten is now coaching Hobert Hurricanes in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL).
