The article claimed that over the last five years, data from the AU building, which was constructed by the Chinese, was transferred to Shanghai at odd hours.

According to the paper, China gifted the $US200 million ($247 million) African Union headquarters building in Adis Ababa - where representatives from all 55 African countries meet - at full cost as an ostensible show of goodwill.

The AU servers were changed in 2017, when this system flaw was discovered, and a new IT architecture was deployed.

Afterward, during a sweep for bugs, microphones hidden in desks supplied by China and the walls were also detected and removed, the newspaper reported.

However, the report was denied by China through its ambassador to the AU, Kuang Weilin, who called the article "ridiculous and preposterous" and said its publication was meant to put pressure on relations between Beijing and the continent.

It has come to light that China has been spying on the African Union (AU) after inserting a backdoor in the AU's computer networks.

US Consumer Confidence Increased in January
Economists monitor the index because consumer spending accounts for more than two-thirds of economic activity in the country. Though, the proportions of responders expecting more jobs in the months to come was virtually unchanged at 19%.

The meeting also approved the reports on the free trade zone, the instrument on the Single African Aviation Market as well as the Peace and Security report, among other fundamental instruments.

Asked to clarify, Kuang Weilin said: "People in the West".

The reform measures, crafted by a panel led by Rwandan President Paul Kagame, are around enhanced financial contributions as well as ensuring greater efficiency at the AU Commission in Ethiopia. As I said, the timing of the article was very interesting. "So I think that the story was intended for the African countries here and to attract the attention but I think they would not succeed".

"Everyone at the AU is grateful for the building that China built".

"I pledge that I shall do my very best to ensure that the anti-corruption agenda will receive the attention it deserves and make the impact we all hope for during 2018 and beyond", Buhari added.
