Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya, an 18-year-old USA citizen from Houston, was charged with unlawfully distributing explosives information and attempting to provide material support to ISIS in a criminal complaint unsealed Monday morning.
Friday, F.B.I. agents arrested Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya. Damlarkaya was arrested after an investigation by the FBI, which found that he was about to go overseas to fight for Islamic state or, if he failed to go, to assault the United States.
The FBI moved to arrest the teen after he exchanged instructions on how to create a pressure cooker bomb with an undercover FBI agent in an online chat room. According to prosecutors, the detainee made two unsuccessful attempts to go to Syria. "It was his "dream" to be a martyr and "have the biggest explosion" and "send the kuffar flying". Damlarkaya planned to meet an ISIS "smuggler" and travel to Syria from Turkey, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The FBI said Damlarkaya told an undercover FBI agent that he was in love with the sister of the friend he wanted to accompany him to Syria.
Neighbors who knew the family told a Houston TV station they are surprised by the arrest. "He's been a good kid all these years that we've been here". Their father owned a auto business. "They walk the dog up and down the street all the time, and they're together all the time". Documents also state Damlarkaya asked if he could provide a farewell video to be broadcast if he died after following through with an attack.

As an alternative to guns and explosive, Damlarkaya did not rule out the use of a machete or Samurai sword.
Last November, Damlarkaya is reported to have said about law enforcement officers, "if I buy a gun or supplies for a bomb, they will heat up pressure (just) like a few months ago when I was trying an operation but they found out".
Other details he allegedly shared with Federal Bureau of Investigation agents include how he slept with a machete under his pillow in case of a house raid, and that he always carried a knife in case he was ever stopped by police.
